Description

TEST RATING Iron Studies – 5/10

While this test provides a thorough look at iron metabolism, which is essential for energy and blood health, it’s quite narrow and lacks other wellness markers such as hormones, metabolic indicators, or organ function. It’s useful as a supplementary test for individuals concerned about iron levels.

These ratings provide a clear view of each package's overall wellness coverage, helping to prioritize the best options for comprehensive health assessments.

The Iron Studies Test is designed to assess iron levels in the body, which are essential for oxygen transport, energy production, and overall health. This test includes several key components:

  1. Ferritin – Measures the stored iron in the body, providing insights into iron reserves.
  2. Serum Iron – Indicates the level of circulating iron in the blood.
  3. Total Iron-Binding Capacity (TIBC) – Measures the blood's capacity to bind iron, helping assess iron transport.
  4. Transferrin Saturation – Shows the percentage of transferrin (a protein that transports iron) that is bound to iron.

This test helps diagnose conditions like iron deficiency anemia or iron overload disorders (such as hemochromatosis) and provides a comprehensive view of iron metabolism and related health.
